Born in the United States, S.K. Derban moved to London within the first three months, and remained in England until the age of five. Her mother was involved with the London Royal Ballet Company, and a great fan of the arts. Even after returning to the United States, S.K. Derban’s life was filled with a love of the theatre and a passion for British murder mysteries.
Her personal travel and missionary adventures also help to transport readers virtually across the globe. S.K. Derban has smuggled Bibles into China, and has been to Israel on seven missionary trips. When writing, she relies on all aspects of her life, from a strong faith in the Lord, to her unique combination of professional experience. The many personal adventures of S.K. Derban are readily apparent as they shine through into her characters. Circumvent is the third mystery novel for writer S.K. Derban.

As a book bloggin’ and book luvin’ Princess, I’m always
curious to find out how authors got the ideas for their books. Can you tell us what your book is about?

Can you tell us a little about the main
characters of your book?
The main characters in Circumvent are quite international,
yet different in appearance. Dark eyes and dark curly hair dominate Nikki
Delémont’s overall look, while her husband Ruggiero Delémont is an athletic
looking blond haired, blue eyed Swiss. They both adore fine cuisine. Nikki is a
writer for a New York food
magazine, and Ruggiero is a famous Swiss pastry chef. Some might say they are a
match made in food Heaven!
If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what
would that be?
Always remember your passion for writing, and never allow
the business side of publishing to take away from what you love.
What would you say is one of your interesting writing
quirks?
When I am stuck on a paragraph I get up and sort laundry.
Do you hear from your readers? What do they say?
My readers are such a blessing to me! I hear from hundreds
of readers who just adore my writing style.
What is the toughest criticism given to you as an author?
It has been often said that a book is too good to put down.
I recently had a reader who thought my latest release was hard to pick up! That
was a tough one to read!
What has been your best accomplishment?
In the world of writing, my best accomplishment is being a
published author. It took years, but I finally signed up a wonderful publishing
house.
Do you Google yourself?
Not any longer. I used to, and then decided it was not worth
the time.
How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?
Only one!
Require kindness to and from each person living in the
kingdom.
Do you have anything specific that you would like to say to
your readers?
Yes! Thank you! Thank you! One thousand times I thank you!
This was a great interview! Thank you!
